On the day the Nets traded away their best player, Richard Jefferson, they drafted Brook Lopez -- the first center selected in the draft. It's not the first time the Nets selected a twin who played center at Stanford. Jason Collins was a defensive presence in the paint during the Nets glory years earlier this decade. Unlike Collins, though, Lopez has some offensive upside and will be relevant in Fantasy. He will likely push Josh Boone to the bench unless Boone has a great preseason and can fight either Lopez or Nenad Krstic for minutes.
Lopez projects be a possible 10-and-10 center, but that likely won't happen as a rookie. He'll be worth a late round pick in most Fantasy drafts as a low-end No. 2 center, but you'd be better served taking him as your third C. The Nets starting lineup could be something like this:
PG - Devin Harris
SG - Vince Carter
SF - Yi Jianlian
PF - Nenad Krstic
C - Brook Lopez
As I was writing this entry, the Pacers selected Arizona PG Jerryd Bayless. Yeah, Jamaal Tinsley is done in Indiana.
